As parents of Honeywell School,
you automatically become a member of our thriving parents,
teachers and friends association. You will be actively
encouraged to help out and take part in any number of
activities. We look forward to your involvement.
We are a volunteer organisation
dedicated to the school’s rich and diverse community, to the
wellbeing of our children and, of course, to their education and
pastoral care. We are very enthusiastic about our efforts and
keen to help the school offer the ‘added extras’. To this end,
we work in close conjunction with both Jane Neal, our Infant
School head, and with Duncan Roberts, head of our Junior School.
To achieve this support, we
organise both fundraising events and fun and social functions
for both parents and children. All this is done with your
help. Each class has a representative, who acts as a contact
point for the co-chairs of the PTFA and as a social co-ordinator.
Our representatives put together invaluable class contact lists
and arrange class social events. On top of that, they are our
co-ordinators for many events where your help is needed, be it
running stalls, manning bars and overseeing tuck at the
Christmas discos. If you would like to do anything to help, do
not hesitate to stand up and be counted.
Last year a lot of hard
work went into organising a broad variety of events including:
- - second hand
children's clothes sale
- - Call my Bluff
wine evening
- - Second hand
books sale
- - Christmas
shopping evening
- - Christmas
bazaar
- - second hand
children's clothing sale
- - quiz night
- - cinema evenings
- - promises auction
- - summer fete
The funds that we raise are spent
on both the head teachers’ requirements and on suggestions from
parents. Every request from the heads is raised at a PTFA
meeting so that you all know and have a say in the spending of
your efforts.
Over the last couple of years the money raised
has gone
towards funding a brand new ICT suite for the Infant School, carpeting
the Junior School classroom, sunshades for the junior
playground, and refurbishment of all classroom book corners with
new furniture and books.

The PTFA Committee is made up of
our four members:
| |
Claire Nicholls - Co-Chair
|
 |
Jennifer Bath - Co-Chair |
 |
Meagan Leggett - Secretary
I have three children, my
youngest is in Year 2, and I have been a parent at Honeywell for
eight years. The diverse range of fundraising and social
activities organised by the PTFA has gone from strength to
strength and I am looking forward to being more closely involved
as Secretary. |
